Bungie Says Play Destiny 2 With A Pop-Tart Rockstar Sugar High

Continuing the tradition of FPS games and energy drinks, Destiny 2 announced a new promotion with Pop-Tarts and Rockstar energy drinks. The previously partner – Red Bull is out. Replaced with Rockstar which is not associated with Rockstar the video game developer – or the movie. sbobet338

According to the few details released via websites and twitter the two high sugar content “foods” will offer players XP boasts with every purchase. Be sure to consume the appropriate Destiny-themed Pop-Tart products to get your bonus. https://hullcrave.com/

Rockstar drinks will have exclusive gear – that Activision hasn’t announced yet. It will also enter you into Rockstar’s daily and weekly lotteries. Prizes include PlayStation 4 Pro systems , and a grand prize Destiny-themed motorcycle. And if you don’t win you can always just display the empty cans in some kinda pyramid. https://hullcrave.com/

While the website is live but details are sparse. We do know that Rockstar Energy cans will launch on September 1 and continue after the game launch. I’m sure you know Destiny launches in less than a month on September 6th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. PC gamers will have to wait until October 24th. https://www.benchwarmerscoffee.com/

What? Netflix Just Acquired Millarworld Including Kick-Ass and Kingsman

Netflix just announced this morning that it has acquired Mark Millar’s Millarworld, the comic book mastermind behind Kick-Ass and Kingsman – to name a few. The the legendary creator’s publishing house and its contents will be be available exclusively to Netflix members.

New content coming from Millarworld

Millarworld will also continue to create and publish new content, stories and character franchises under the Netflix label. I wonder with a possibly large injection of capital and staff? Apparently superhero stories are working out well at Netflix as they have picked up the pace for their current offerings.

Having spent eight years at Marvel, Mark Millar also has created characters like Old Man Logan for the Disney owned publisher. I have to believe the old aged Wolverine story must be on the short list of “awesome new series we could make for 2019.”

An acquisition of this type is the first ever by Netflix. Actually it’s their first of any kind. According to the press release it’s “a natural progression in the company’s effort to work directly with prolific and skilled creators and to acquire intellectual property and ownership of stories featuring compelling characters and timeless, interwoven fictional worlds.”

Millar had this to say, “This is only the third time in history a major comic book company has been purchased at this level,” said Millar. “I’m so in love with what Netflix is doing and excited by their plans. Netflix is the future and Millarworld couldn’t have a better home.”

Updated:

According to a clarifying statement posted on the Millarworld forums, this Netflix deal does not include the Kick Ass or Kingsman IPs.  “Kingsman and Kick-Ass have unique Hollywood deals elsewhere and aren’t a part of this particular acquisition, but those two fine men are toasting us in spirit from London and California respectively.”

No Hulu “Runaways” Pilot Or Updates At Comic Con

It seems like the perfect place and time to announce a comic book based series, but sadly there will be no Runaways pilot or any updates at Comic Con this year. Hulu confirmed this weekend that the Marvel series about gifted runaway teenagers isn’t quite ready. I followed up to see if there was any timeline for another announcement but have yet to hear back.

Certainly there will be plenty of other Marvel television shows to be enjoyed at Comic Con (which starts Wednesday) but I had big hopes to hear more about this fan favorite story. Since its announcement back in August there has been little to go on. The Twitter account hasn’t been much help either.

What we do know about the Runaways

The cast for Runaways was set and announced back in February, and includes Gregg Sulkinis as Chase Stein. Also noted were the showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage from The O.C. fame. Runaways will be released on Hulu sometime in 2018.

The Runaways story

Published by Marvel comics, Runaways tells the story of six teenagers who learn some interesting stuff about their parents in one very eventful evening. For years they wondering what went on behind the secret meetings, and charity events their parents would hold. Well now they know – and it isn’t good. Now on the run and added by their own super abilities the kids form a pact to protect themselves and take down an evil crime organization known as “The Pride.”

Each Year Comic Con Exceeds Expectations, And Often Disappoints

Celebrating the popular arts, the San Diego Comic Con 2017 starts on Wednesday this week. I’m wondering what the high and low points are going to be in this instalment. Each year Comic Con finds a new way to be awesome, and a new way to less than that. Sometimes it’s obvious, like the time we thought we could get dinner and still make it back to see the Luke Cage reveal. In my defense, the room was half empty when we left! Sometimes it’s more obtuse, like running into Syndicate just walking out of the Call of Duty offsite the night before opening.

Last year SyFy Live seemed like an sure-to-be-good event, – but man it wasn’t. Tapping away on my computer a few weeks before SDCC last year, I was grabbing tickets within minutes of reading they were available. Will Arnett was hosting and the guest list for the day I had tickets for included Norman Reedus from the Walking Dead, and the cast of Mr. Robot. Can’t go wrong there, and I bet Will would be promoting his new Lego Batman Movie. Maybe we will get some cool Lego Batman stuff, or a sneak previews, at least a weird story about about Christian Slater.

Well it was damn hot on the roof of some hotel where it was taking place, fucking hot actually. Mr. Arnett wasn’t very engaging (maybe it was the heat), rarely acknowledging the audience, and the cast of Mr. Robot? Yeah that was pre-taped and shown on a screen. Best part – we got Walking Dead luggage tags.

But if I give a bad example I must counter with something that was truly awesome – albeit small. On the last day (I think) artist Robert Sammelin was signing autographs at the Dark Horse booth. At the time I didn’t know who he was but I saw a few people holding Battlefield 1 posters that had been signed. Battlefield* being probably being one of the greatest games of all time I walked up just as the last people were leaving. His signing time was up. I asked if I could get one last poster and he graciously stayed. We ended up talking for 15 minutes. Robert is a concept artist who’s awesome work I’ve enjoyed for years. If you have seen the box for Battlefield 1 – then you’ve see his work.

Comic Con always delivers something, a few years ago I went to the Factory booth for an Archer cast signing. Dr. Krieger was there (Lucky Yates). When I walked up holding my Pam Poovey therapy dolphin he gives me this weird double take look. Then he tells me I look just like his long lost brother. (I’m not sure what that meant exactly) but he ends up taking a picture of me to send to his mom.

*We got preview Battlefield 1 last year at Xbox Live, arriving early we were in the very first group.  Jack took first place during our session and won a Logitech gaming mouse.

Sony’s Marvel Universe And The Sliver & Black Film

One of the more interesting future comic book movies in the works is Sony’s film Silver & Black. There no official release yet but plenty of rumors surrounding this Spider-verse event, especially with Homecoming arriving soon. The graphic novel inspired movie will feature the characters Black Cat and Silver Sable. Filling the gray space between good and evil the two characters have been in Marvel comics since the early 80s. Each with their own baggage, the team up would be a wild ride if done properly.

Screen Rant reported earlier that film will actually be called “Silver & Black” and it will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood who has previous experience in the Marvel universe with Cloak and Dagger. If all goes well THR says filming would start this fall for a 2019 release date. Silver and Black apparently won’t have much to do with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man tho, but may include Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman)

Who are these Frenemies?

Felicia Hardy was inspired by her dad’s propensity to steal stuff and eventually became Black Cat. Currently a semi-reformed burglar she is also a former girlfriend of the original web slinger. Silver Sable shares Black Cat’s conflicted lifestyle. A mercenary who may or may not, want to do the right thing she is often in conflict with other heroes and sometimes villains. The most interesting characters are often only out for themselves.

Silver & Black will not be MCU compatible

It seems like the anti-hero film will not be part of the MCU, which not completely surprising but a little confusing with Spider-Man teaming up with the Avengers later this year. But Sony is making a new run at superhero films after pausing everything a few years ago and abandoned previous Spider-Man movies. Venom is confirmed and has a fall 2018 release date – includes Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. This is all shaping up for another parallel Marvel universe, again.

An all female gig?

One of the more intriguing rumors is Silver and Black will be an all female joint. Borrowing some mojo from the success of Wonder Woman, Sony might try for it’s own girl-power movie? This was reported by Slash Film but actually I’m not sure what this even means. And one more rumor to toss in here… The Silver and Black film will be an origins film (surprised) with many cameo appearances from familiar faces such as Norman Osborn, and several others like The Scorpion and The Tarantula
