Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer Is Funny

This November, Thor: Ragnarok the comedy?

Instantly #1 trending today is the Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer, that I expected. But the amount of dry humor mixed in the trailer is more unexpected. More Guardians of the Galaxy than previous Thor movies, the jokes are in the new Marvel “quirky” flavor. Dr. Strange had some of this tone, which I thought was fitting for a man who was generally not going for funny. But Thor?

The trailer also has a 70s, maybe early 80s vibe, and also seems to be channeling Guardians. So much that people are asking “is this Guardians 3?” The vintage rock soundtrack delivered by Led Zeppelin (Immigrant Song) is a bit of miss in my opinion. While a classic and awesome jam, it has been way overused in the past that I’m surprised to hear in this context. Maybe it is just to add to the cliche.

“The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands

To fight the horde and sing and cry, Valhalla, I am coming”

The trailer also introduces Cate Blanchett as the villainous Hela, along with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster. Oh and stay for the end because the Hulk is here too.
