Kingsman Sequel

20th Century Fox is committed to The Kingsman sequel and has committed to a date in June 2017 for it’s release. The follow up to Kingsman: The Secret Service, the sci-fi sequel will (according to rumors) continue Eggsy’s story to a fully licensed agent. Starburst announced the confirmed summer date is set for June 16th, 2017.

The previous Kingsman based on Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar’s comic book Secret Service was a significant hit last year after a bit of slow start. Director Matthew Vaughn is no small part of the success of the film. His previous experience bringing comic books like Kick Ass and X-Men: First Class to the screen has been amazing. However there has been no word if he will return to the service. Actually Vaughn seems to bug out, leaving the sequel to someone else – like Byran Singer for X-Men.

No details are know about story as of now and looking to the previous series won’t tell us much as Kingsman: The Secret Service only loosely followed the original comics. The film borrows only the basic concept of the storyline, and it completely removed any relationship to MI6, instead offering a complete new secret agency which was briefly revealed at the end of the previous film.

THR is reporting Kingsman 2 is scheduled to begin filming next April, but that leads to a small problem with star Taron Egerton’s schedual as he has signed up for Lionsgate’s Robin Hood: Origins that may also start around the same time. (Yes another “origins” movie.) According to the report, an inside source says “things will be worked out,” and it appears that Fox is taking the necessary steps to ensure Egerton can star in both projects.
